Our committment to making Cranberry Trifest a weekend of sustainable events.
We have partnered with Athletes for a Fit Planet for help in producing more environmentally responsible events which includes taking the 2010 Pledge of Sustainability and adopting the following eco-practices:
- Reducing paper waste by processing no less than 80% of all race entries online and not mailing out paper registration forms
- Providing recycling bins at our events for athletes, spectators, volunteers and sponsors to use and recycle cardboard, paper, plastic and other materials
- Giving our racers tech t-shirts made of eco-friendly material
- Distributing re-usable water bottles at the finish line of all of our events
- Offering green portable toilets that use non-toxic deoderizer and recycled toilet paper
- Serving post-race food and drinks with recycled paper plates and compostable utencils
- Re-using at least 80% of the signage we have at each event
- Offering athletes information about the Pickup Pal ride share program to help minimize your carbon footprint when traveling to and from the event. Click here to learn more.
In addition to the above, we will also be offering a shoe recycling program in partnership with Rerun Sports Shoes. Bring your running shoes, sport cleats, men’s and women’s dress and casual shoes, sandals and childrens’ shoes. Anything except winter boots! Rerun Sports Shoes sends the shoes for reuse in the poorest countries in Africa and supports organizations dedicated to environmental and social good works through the Step by Step Sustainable World Fund.
